Traditionally martial arts praise and claim to teach values like respect, self-discipline, honesty integrity - noble sentiments but in most instances divorced from reality. Are we really going to kid ourselves (and you) that a child with behavioral problems at home, in school or at play will miraculously be cured of all these ills by martial arts training.
To be honest in our experience no. There is or no point in ruling a martial arts class with a rod of iron if the basic values of acceptable behaviour are not endorsed or encouraged elsewhere - we are deluding ourselves. This is why ACS martial arts classes encourage and endorse values like discipline, honesty and respect without actually taking the credit for improved behaviour - behavioral changes and improvements are are a joint venture involving the home, school, clubs and peer interaction this is why we've launched the BEST initiative designed to back up emphasise the values we know that you as parents expect, we as coaches deserve, and children themselves understand.

The BEST initiative offers:
- A non-political, no-nonsense, pressure free environment in which students can learn at their own pace
- Additional support for parents in connection with their child's academic schoolwork
- To listen and help with any concerns regarding behaviour or peer pressure
- To celebrate your child's academic successes
- Support parents with any initiatives that they feel may help those children who need additional encouragement both in and out of school
- Additional support for your child in any school related matter by letter, phone or in person
We believe that we are the only martial arts business to publicly declare this level of support for you and your children - some martial arts clubs believe and advertise that they are the best, perhaps they are but only we offer the B.E.S.T.
