ACS-Design & Leisure run adult and junior jujitsu classes at Leisure centres in the Luton area of Bedfordshire as well as school clubs and demo sessions.
Jujitsu (also spelt ju-jitsu, jui jitsu etc) is a japanese martial art encompassing close-quarter, distance and ground fighting self-defence techniques.
Jujitsu is an extremly versatile and well rounded martial art with historic roots dating back to the Samurai periods of medievil Japan. Covering many of the skills found in other martial arts styles, jujitsu, in it's simpler and more enjoyable form, does not specialise in one particular defensive arena, prefering instead to embrace a multitude of techniques from simple and basic to intricate and technical; basically something for all abilities, regardless of strengh or age.
The originators of Judo and Aikido were both accomplished jujitsu practioners and ju-jitsu was one of the first Japanese martial arts practiced in the west having arrived here during the 19th century as a musical hall test of strengh; a unique marketing initiaive employed by William Barton-Write who used this device to advertise his own jujitsu and cane fighting discipline called Bartitsu.
Here is a list of ACS run IAJJ jujitsu clubs in the Luton area. Please note that there are other International Atemi Jujitsu clubs in the Luton and Dunstable areas not run by ACS but all IAJJ clubs are run under the same club rules, carry the same insurance and follow the same curriculum so students are welcome to train at any IAJJ venue.
