The reiki practioner uses between 12 and 20 hand positions during the whole treatment which lasts about 45 minutes to an hour.
Recipients often describe sensations of warmth or tingling on the areas being treated, with the intensity of feeling varying from individual to individual. Even when there has been no physical response a state of deep relaxation is usually the most immediate effect.
